Rally legend Colin McRae creates car
December 31st, 1969
Pictured here is a computer rendering of a rally car currently being co-developed by former World Rally Champion Colin McRae, specialty manufacturer DJM Race Preparations and Millington Engines.
A prototype labelled the McRae R4 made its world debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend. Schedule for sale later this year, expect a starting price tag of around $240,000.
Power comes courtesy of a 340 bhp (254 kW) 2.5-litre 4-banger which is enough to propel the car from 0 – 60 in about 5 seconds. All this grunt is transmitted through a DJM sequential six-speed gearbox via either RWD or optional 4WD.
With plans to incorporate even more powerful, turbo powerplants of up to 750 bhp (560 kW) for competition use, the McRae R4 is set to make a big splash in the world of performance cars. No doubt the car will be a big hit with the Playstation generation.
