Preview: Bugatti’s new super-sedan
December 31st, 1969
Bugatti aims to create a new market for super performing luxury sedans when it introduces its Veyron inspired 950hp (709kW) four-door supercar. Unlike the Veyron halo car, new models like this sedan plus other variants will enable Bugatti to recoup some of the massive development costs that went in to creating the Veyron.
You can guarantee that this sedan will share the W-16 engine, seven-speed DSG transmission, and all-wheel-drive system from the Veyron but in a front-engined layout. Other models on the drawing board include a new coupe and convertible. All-out speed is not the agenda of this new vehicle, instead comfort and ease of driving will be paramount. The new car will have smaller turbos to give better low-range performance as well as a heavier body due to the extra-long wheelbase and luxury equipment. Don’t expect much change from about $1 million for the new Bugatti.
