Rendering of potential Ferrari 599 drop-top
December 31st, 1969
NFL stars will be rejoicing at the sight of these stunning renderings of the Ferrari 599 GTB, created by Michiel Van Den Brink. Rather than just dubbing it the 599 ‘Spyder’ (as Ferrari have traditionally done with the F430 and 360 convertibles) Michiel’s decided to go with the ‘California Spyder’ moniker, and we’re beginning to suspect that he may work for a marketing firm with a name like that.
Like other Ferrari convertibles, it manages to retain its beautiful lines and striking looks while allowing the wind to flow through your hair, but as usual there will probably be a very slight decrease in performance due to extra weight from stiffening up the body. We saw how Ferrari's F430 spyder had very similar performance to the coupe version, and if Ferrari does decide to build a convertible 599 then we could expect a similar treatment given to it. Now we just have to hope that they actually build it, because if the pictures are anything to go by it'll be a nice addition to the already potent Ferrari stable.
