Fiat’s 100HP baby Panda Sport
December 31st, 1969
Fiat’s baby Panda will produce 100hp in its Sport iteration, which is significant considering that the Panda is one of the smallest cars in Fiat’s line-up. The Panda Sport will accelerate from 0-100km/h in 9.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 185km/h. Thanks to the small displacement of only 1.4-litres for the 16 valve four-cylinder, the Panda Sport achieves fuel mileage of just 6.5-litres per 100km. Contrary to rumors, Fiat has stuck with a petrol powerplant for its Panda Sport instead of a turbo-diesel unit.
The Sport package also includes new mesh grill inserts front and rear, a sporty bodykit with integrated fog lights and roof spoiler, 15inch alloys plus disc brakes all round. Overall weight has been kept to around 850kgs despite the inclusion of luxury items such as leather upholstery and upmarket stereo. The Panda label has had a recent resurgence in popularity. In fact, the Nuova Panda is going to appear in the latest Bond flick, Casino Royale, alongside the DBRS9 from Aston Martin.

What is the miles per gallon rating of the Panda? And is there any US distributors, especially in the Midwest/St. Louis area?
