Saab will show Paris its bio-hybrid 9-3 Cabriolet
December 31st, 1969
With the ensuing rise in oil prices around the world, the quest for alternative fuels and more efficient vehicles becomes ever more important. Saab has combined the best of both worlds with its bio-ethanol powered hybrid concept. Luxury hybrid vehicles are still a niche and Saab, a company known for innovative design, hopes it can tap that segment.
Based on the Saab 9-3 Cabriolet, the hybrid concept runs of pure E100 bio ethanol and works in conjunction with three electric motors. Total output is a respectable 260 hp (191kW) driving the rear wheels. Other features that the concept has include an engine stop/start mode, a regenerative braking system and a fuel zero-mode for the city. The Saab Aero X will be displayed alongside the hybrid for the length of the show.
