Bertone to build next-generation TVRs

Bertone to build next-generation TVRs

December 31st, 1969 TVR recently announced that it will shut down its UK factory and outsource the production of its next-generation vehicles to another European company. We can now confirm that coachbuilder Bertone has been selected by TVR to produce the 2007 model-year Sagaris, Tuscan and Tuscan convertibles in Turin, Italy. Drive train duties will be handled by UK engineering firm Ricardo, who will also be responsible for making sure the engines meet the latest Euro IV emissions standards, according to a report from UK's AutoCar. It also looks like previous information of TVR producing a limited run of 60 special edition Typhoons and placing an entrant in the Le Mans series will be highly unlikely due to the dire financial position of the company. It appears that TVR is in much worse shape than previous reports have suggested. However, this new arrangement with Bertone may see the brand improve its reputation and build quality and will hopefully increase its sales.
