Driver follows GPS and ends up on train tracks

December 31st, 1969 A 64 year old German man accidentally drove his car, a brand new BMW 5-series equipped with a GPS system, directly onto a train track because he couldn’t understand the navigation correctly. After initially making it onto the track, the driver continued on until he reached a train station before realizing he had made a mistake, at which point he came to a complete stop. This follows news of another German man, aged 80, who followed his navigation system into a huge pile of sand. Ignoring the “closed for construction” sign the driver crashed his Mercedes into the sand on a motorway near Hamburg.
