Spy Shots: Fiat Punto Turbo
December 31st, 1969
A prototype of Fiat’s 2007 Grande Punto has been caught by spy photographers, which is said to be the performance version of the Giugiaro designed hatch. Riding on the latest version of GM’s Gamma platform, this black colored test mule is housing Fiat’s newly released 1.4L turbo that’s expected to be shared by the Alfa Romeo 147.
European sales will start next summer, with international markets following soon after. According to the website, onet.pl Moto, the new car will be available in two versions including 120 and 150hp variants. Clear giveaways illustrating this Punto’s sporting intent include the twin exhaust pipes and upgraded brakes. The standard car managed to achieve a 5 star rating in the EuroNCAP crash test for passenger protection, and this model is expected to pick up the latest in safety aids including ESP and traction control as standard.
