Spy Shots: 2008 Peugeot 608
December 31st, 1969
Peugeot’s replacement for the unpopular 607 saloon is due in 2008 with styling expected to follow the lines of the menacing 908RC concept sedan revealed at the Paris Motor Show. Show goers had responded positively to the 908RC, and the angular styling and prominent nose of the concept car should feature on the new 608 sedan as well. French magazine L’Auto-Journal has created a possible rendering of the new car that has been posted on an image sharing site by forum members. You can view it in full by clicking here.
Rumours suggest that Peugeot will boost power over the current car and might even include a new V8 engine that will drive the rear wheels via the recently introduced six-speed automatic transmission. An AWD model may be introduced as well. A revised version of the 2.7 HDi V6 will also make an appearance but with power boosted above the current 200bhp as well as an all new petrol V6. We can also expect the new 608 to feature coupe–like styling similar to the Mercedes CLS as well as the French brand’s usual sense of flair for the interior.

On Friday 30/10/09 I spotted a red Peugeot 608 waiting at a junction on the outskirts of Newcastle Upon Tyne, GB. I thought it was a 607 make-over until I searched the web and found photos the exact car I'd seen at www.forum-peugeot.com/peugeot-608.html
Both dealers and Peugeuot UK deny any knowledge of the vehicle, knowing about a production 608 and Peugeot UK even said that there are no plans to make a model called "608". Wierd or what?
