December 31st, 1969 We’ve always found heads-up displays to be incredibly cool, giving us the feeling of being in a fighter jet without any of the long hours of training or the threat of being killed. The one built into the latest BMWs not only shows you the speed, but can also convey satellite navigation information so you don’t have to take your eyes off the road. The next version HUD could have a technology that BMW calls RoadPreview. Basically, it works by telling you about the road ahead using the HUD. The system can uses satnav data and your current speed to tell you whether there’s a big turn coming up ahead, or whether you may be going too fast to avoid an obstacle coming up. The goal is to make you more comfortable over unfamiliar terrain. Despite our love for car gadgetry, we think its overkill; how many times have you pushed the limits of your car while driving on normal roads?

    ... Basically everyday. Why wouldn't you if the road is empty? Things like brake fade are almost a daily thing when I'm driving around. Really got to get some ceramic composites put on.

    So both of you push the limits of your (I'm guessing) sports cars in an urban city environment? That's who this comment was aimed at.

    I push the limits of my car practically every day, but it's just too dangerous doing it in the city.

    well i just drive a saturn around and if i had a bmw like i am planinng on getting soon i will def be one that would be pushing it in the city limits.
