Ford Focus facelift to make debut at NAIAS
December 31st, 1969
FoMoCo has confirmed it will show its revised and upgraded Focus at the Detroit auto show next month, ahead of sales beginning next year. Ford is looking to take advantage of the consumer swing towards smaller cars. Ford may also release the two-door version of the Focus at the show. The current model has been around since 2000 with not enough changes to make it truly competitive. The updates to be shown at the NAIAS will be the most significant since its launch. Ford is expected to leave the mechanicals unchanged. This means the familiar 130hp 2.0L Duratec four-cylinder will be sold in addition to the more powerful 151hp 2.3L version.
Though this model of the Focus is build domestically in the US, Ford is looking in to the feasibility of importing the European Focus to compete against the barrage of small cars to be released to the market.
