New 5-seat Citroen C4 Picasso

New 5-seat Citroen C4 Picasso

December 31st, 1969 To be perfectly honest, we’ve never found MPVs to be very attractive. They may be practical, but they’re also supposed to be boring family cars without even a hint of passion. That’s why we like Citroen’s 5-seat C4 so much. It’s been chopped down from the original 7-seat version, but still provides oodles of space and looks good doing it. It’s even got some hot hatchback touches to it, such as the subtle rear spoiler, and the flared arches holding alloy wheels. With the optional panoramic sunroof, it looks like the upper half of the vehicle is completely surrounded by glass. The C4 Picasso has space to seat five people comfortably and 500L of boot space under the luggage cover, which extends to a massive 1,734L with the rear seats folded down. The five seat C4 Picasso is available with a choice of four engines: 127hp 1.8L and 143hp 2.0L petrol units, and 110hp 1.6L and 138hp 2.0L diesel powerplants, both fitted with Diesel Particulate Filter Systems. Dependent on engine there is a choice of gearboxes: manual, automatic or a 6-speed gearbox with paddleshift gearchange. It’s expected the new car will be at least €1000 cheaper than the 7-seater model, which would bring it under the magic €20,000 price mark.
