I understand that the latest McLaren variant is lighter and faster than the original variant, but the question is > will anyone in the potential pool of buyers really care? Like the Maybach, the world seems to have move on from the SLR.

Out of the glut of supercars released in the early 2000\'s, the SLR is one of the few that remains. You can\'t buy an Enzo or Carrera GT anymore. The other thing is that the SLR\'s performance is very accessible - apparently it\'s as easy to drive as any Mercedes saloon. That matters to potential buyers that want high-end performance without the effort.
Personally, I would buy a 599 over this any day, but there would be a small market for the SLR, and out of all the places in the world, the Middle East is the most likely to be it.
