Cadillac introduces BLS wagon in Europe

December 31st, 1969 Cadillac will be adding the BLS wagon to its European lineup where it joins its sedan cousin and the larger, more up-market CTS. The new BLS variant is the first Caddy wagon in the label’s 104-year history, but the car’s roots are based on the Saab 9-3. The front-wheel drive wagon range is offered with a turbo-diesel and three turbocharged gasoline engines. The 1.9L four-cylinder diesel engine, with common-rail direct-injection technology, is fitted with a maintenance-free particulate filter and delivers 150hp (110kW). The range of gasoline engines includes two 2.0L four-cylinder versions delivering 175hp/129kW and 210hp/154kW respectively, as well as a larger 2.8L V6 with a twin-scroll turbocharger bolted on and 255hp (188kW) on tap. The chassis design features MacPherson struts in the front and a four-link set-up at the rear, while some models also feature a dynamic Sport Mode function that provides faster gear-shifts. Interested buyers will have to wait because the first models aren’t expected to hit showrooms until the fourth quarter of this year.
