There’s still much debate as to what car Mercedes Benz will be revealing at this week’s New York Auto Show. The smart money is on the mystery car being the upcoming AMG CLK63 Black Series. The special edition vehicle is based on the safety car used for the Formula One and features an aggressive body kit similar in style to the high-performance DTM version.
The CLK63 Black Series is expected to run AMG’s familiar hand-built 6.2L AMG V8 powerplant with power boosted to 530hp, enough for the sporty coupe to reach 100km/h from rest in just 4.5 seconds. Engineers also made the standard CLK undergo an extensive weight reduction program, with new lightweight carbon-fiber components and forged alloys added.
