KTM’s X-Bow offering supercar performance at $55K

Following its unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show last month, KTM’s new 300bhp X-Bow roadster is now ready for production with up to 600 firm orders already in place. KTM were originally planning to build just 100 units in a deal with manufacturer Dallara, but due to popular demand after the concept’s reveal in Geneva, production duties will now be handled by Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik with the first units rolling off the line early next year.

KTM boss Stefan Pierer revealed the reasoning behind the move, commenting “at Magna Steyr, we will achieve a higher production output appreciably faster. Furthermore, this decision enables us to simplify the procedure. We have to start up only one manufacturing process.” If all goes to plan, KTM is hoping to build up to 1000 units in its first year with pricing set at $55,000 a piece.

For this money, buyers will get a more powerful 300bhp version of Audi’s TFSI engine in an ultra-light carbon fiber monocoque body that weighs just 700kg. Expect supercar like performance from the tiny roadster with acceleration to 100km/h taking less than 4 seconds.
