JE Design boosts the Seat Leon Cupra
December 31st, 1969
The Seat Leon Cupra is already a top contender for the car with the most bang for your buck, but to tuning house JE Design, the standard car’s 240hp (177kw) just didn’t cut it. Following from its previous Leon FR hatch, the developers turned to the Cupra to get that extra power fix. Power for the tuned 2.0L TFSI is up to 285hp (210kW) with torque increased to 385Nm, up from 300Nm.
Enhancement of the engine’s management system sees top speed reach 261km/h, while the 0-100km/h sprint takes just 5.9 seconds. JE Design offers customers even more potential with an optional quad-pipe exhaust system that increases performance through optimized exhaust flow.
Unique exterior features developed for the Cupra include the spoiler inserts in the front apron, and a matching diffuser insert in the rear bar. JE also adds its own front grille and headlight covers to give a more aggressive look. Other additions include the side sills, air channels in both the front and rear bumpers and finally, a rear wing for added downforce.
Rolling stock comprises of 18in or optional 19in multipsoke alloys finished in a chrome paint or matt black. The car was then lowered by 30mm, lowering the center of gravity for improved handling and driving ability. There’s also a sportier version with a coilover suspension that lowers the car between 35 and 65mm.
Currently in the works is a more powerful version that should have 300hp on tap and a new wide-bodykit.
