Aston Martin makes N24 V8 Vantage racer road legal

December 31st, 1969 You may remember the original Aston Martin N24 V8 Vantage, a car driven by Aston CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez and a team of engineers in last year’s Nurburgring 24 Hours endurance race. It proved so successful that before long a limited production run was announced but the car would remain a race only special that would be illegal for public road use. News has surfaced that Aston Martin will offer customers the opportunity to gain Single Vehicle Approval (SVA), which would mean the 410bhp (305kW) super-coupe will be street legal. According to Piston Heads, the package would be available as an after-market option with the modifications completed at Aston Martin Works Service in Newport Pagnell. Some of the modifications required include the installation of a full handbrake system, number plate mounts, indicators, compliance with noise and emission regulations, and a horn. However, Aston Martin were quick to mention that “whilst the Vantage N24 will be road legal after completing the SVA process, the car will not offer the levels of comfort and refinement for which Aston Martin’s have become renowned, and the ride and handling will reflect that of a race car.” If you're interested in a slightly more hardcore Vantage that still retains most of the luxury features the British marque is renowned for you'll have to wait for a rumored V8 Vantage 'S' version.
