Volvo planning R-line sports packs
December 31st, 1969
Back in April we reported that Volvo would be dropping its ‘R’ performance range at the end of the 2007 model year due to lackluster sales. However, fans of the R range may not have to be sad for long if rumors about a new Volvo sports package prove true. Similar to Audi’s S-Line performance upgrades, Volvo is said to be developing its own sport pack to be called the R-Line for the new S40 and V50 models.
The new pack will consist of both cosmetic changes and possibly performance upgrades such as stiffer suspension and racing alloy wheels. Other additions will likely include unique interior trim, a sporty bodykit and distinctive R-Line badging.
During the announcement of the end of the ‘R’ performance range, Volvo CEO Fredrik Arp mentioned that there’ll still be performance oriented models but the cars won’t be carrying the R label. Other models in the pipeline include a sports version of the C30 hatch as well as a high-performance turbo V8 powered S80 flagship.
