Fiat planning Uno revival and new crossover

Fiat will launch several new models over the next couple of years, including a new B-segment car, a midsized crossover and a redesigned Panda hatch. The first of the new models will be a small hatch that’s rumored to revive the ‘Uno’ badge in Western markets.

The Uno will utilize a shortened version of the Punto’s platform and share that model’s engine options to keep costs at a minimum. The car will measure just 3.7m in length and should be in showrooms by 2009, reports Just Auto. Fiat is also working on a twin-cylinder engine, labeled Multiair, which will be turbocharged to produce around 100bhp. This will join the carmaker’s other powerplants, which include 1.4L turbo petrol units and a pair of 1.9L turbodiesels.

Following the release of the Uno will be the introduction of a new crossover model that will be based on the current Bravo hatch. This car is aimed directly at the Nissan Qashqai and will be available in both FWD or AWD configurations and seat up to seven passengers.

The final model to be introduced in Fiat’s revamp is the next-gen Panda, which will arrive in 2010.
