Spy Shots: More Ferrari F430 Challenge Stradale pics

December 31st, 1969 A camouflaged Ferrari F430 has been spotted by spy photographers near Germany’s Nurburgring circuit. Its new exhaust pipes positioned higher up in the rear bumper than the standard model reveal that this is in fact the Challenge Stradale that's due to be unveiled at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Key features of the CS are its lower mass, brought about by replacing many of the standard version's parts with lightweight carbon-fiber, and a slight bump in power. Engineers are believed to have shed more than 100kg through the weight saving program and power is expected to be boosted to the 520hp mark thanks to exhaust modifications. The images show camouflage material surrounding the bumper and rear intakes, which suggest these will be different from the standard car. Also, the front wheel arches appear to be wider than the standard model suggesting this car might have a wider track. You can see a few more shots of the car over at AutoWereld.

  1. You gotta love Ferrari marketers. They're experts at taking things OUT of a car, swithing a few things around, putting a few more horses in and charging you a pretty penny AND make you think you got a great thing going.

Last time I was at Limerock I saw this 360CS. It was a beautiful thing, of course. But I just knew that the owner had not idea where the limits of your run of the mill 360 Modena were, let alone those of the Challenge Stradale. If you can't drive a car at its limit, why would you get an even more extreme version?

  2. The majority of people will still buy the standard versions. The CS is actually too hardcore for most posers so if you see someone with a CS Fezza it's likely they'll be using it the way it was meant to be used.
