December 31st, 1969 GM Holden has announced today that the first Pontiac G8 engineering prototypes have been completed at the carmaker’s production site in the Australian state of Victoria, where they’ll undergo testing ahead of the G8’s US market debut early next year. The first production versions of the G8 are due to roll off the line at the Holden plant in late 2007, with an estimated 620 cars to be completed each day. Along with the US, the Holden built sedans will also be sold in the Middle East, South Africa and parts of Asia. The export program will expand the model range at Holden’s Elizabeth plant to 18 domestic and 15 export vehicle lines. The new G8 is the first North American model based on GM’s new Zeta RWD architecture, which was developed by a global team of engineers in Australia and will eventually spawn a range of new GM cars.

    I am not a fan of those underachieving lazy asses at GM but this car looks good inside and out. Don't judge it by the red one in the picture - that color looks horrible on it. I saw a dark grey one with a two tone interior which could be a contender against Toyota and Honda provided GM builds them well. The interior actually loks very, very nice with none of the usual Pontiac geriatric huge buttons.

    The bad news for GM though is that they build so much shit that people aren't likely to flock to their dealerships, even for a good car. GM needs to prove itself to the customer first. And after beauties like the Aztek, the Terraza and the Escalade that's gonna take a long time.

    I did not know they make a RWD performance sedan. I don't think Pontiac really cares about imitating Honda and Toyota with this vehicle and that may be just what they need (ie Chyrsler 300). You seem to think the Aztek and Terraza are ugly and I agree. However, I think the Ridgelne and Element are just as bad. As for the Toyota lineup, it has to be the saddest looking group of 'estrogen designs' on he road (leave your balls with the saleman).
