Peugeot planning 308-based SUV
December 31st, 1969
The new Peugeot 308 was only launched this month but there are already rumors of an SUV model currently being developed to be based on the same platform as the popular hatch. The new SUV would be positioned below the recently revealed 4007 crossover, which itself shares its architecture with a Mitsubishi design.
Likely to be called the 3008, the new SUV would be offered in both FWD and AWD configurations and would be aimed at rival soft-roaders like the Toyota Rav4 and upcoming Ford IosisX crossover. According to TeknikensVarld, the new Peugeot SUV will replace the previous 308 MPV and could seat up to seven passengers.
Engine options would include a 95bhp 1.4L mill and 150bhp 1.6L four-cylinder petrol unit, followed by two diesel variants, a 90bhp 1.6L unit and a 136bhp 2.0L motor. Like the 308 hatch, the SUV would also pick up Peugeot’s upcoming “BioFlex” engine as well as a new hybrid-diesel option.
