New Ford Oz Falcon revealed

New Ford Oz Falcon revealed

December 31st, 1969 Images of Australia’s latest RWD family hauler have popped up on several Aussie forums, revealing the next-gen Ford Falcon ahead of its launch in early ’08. These renderings are said to reveal the new FPV GT, a performance bred sedan based on the regular Falcon and powered by a range of V8 and turbo inline sixes. The new Falcon is described as being developed as a 'top hat' project. Essentially, the current BF model is getting new sheet metal and some minor revisions to its mechanical package. Aimed at the Holden Commodore in the Aussie market, the Ford Falcon also spawns a mid-sized SUV, labeled the Territory that’s also expected to come in for an update. The FPV performance models will soldier on with the Ford Boss 5.4L V8 engine, but are expected to output more than the current 290kW peak power figure. The turbo 4.0L six should also get a healthy power boost, though it may not be around beyond 2010. By then, Australia will adopt Euro IV emissions standards and the venerable straight-six might not make the cut. More info and images after the jump. Unfortunately, the chances of this car being exported to the other markets are slim but there is hope that some of the mechanicals could eventually end-up in some of Ford’s RWD models in the US, including the next-gen Mustang.

  5. Love it. I have a 63 but I'd love a new one.

  6. The front looks a little like the 'Ultimate Warrior'.

  7. im a falcon man thru and thru no doudt about it this new falcon is the the best of em all i always liked the ef to el the best till the ba-bf came out now this MONSTA look out holden might hav a winner here

  8. As far as i know the current straight six already meets euro4 standards. The reason it is being phased out in 2010 is because it doesnt meet future packaging restraints (cant be used in a front wheel drive, tall engine height means tall bonnet height) The main reason the Falcon isint exported is it will obliterate sales of the US divisions tank the Corwn Victoria. It meets all US crash regulations, but Ford America prevent Ford Aus from designing a left hand drive version.

  9. This is a far better car than the Crown Vic...as has been all the previous versions.....FORD are keeping the crown vic coz all the cabbies drive them, coz they are cheep and there are that many of them that parts are easy to come by....i am interested to see the FPV versions in the flesh....it will take alot to take sales from the Transformeresq Commodore !

  10. God why is we could get something like that here in the U.S
