Schumacher: I want to develop Ferrari road cars

December 31st, 1969 Michael Schumacher says he is still not sure what form his advisory role at Ferrari will take in the future. The retired multiple world champion, who will attend this weekend's grand prix at the Nurburgring, ruled out becoming a team boss or returning to competitive action. "No. Fortunately I found the right time to stop," he said in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. "I considered my decision for a long time but I got it right." Schumacher, 38, reveals that after several visits to the paddock in 2007, he still has not found a more specified role to play within the formula one team. "But I do want to help with the development of Ferrari's road cars," he insists. "That is a lot of fun for me and I do have something to contribute." In terms of the Maranello based F1 team, Schumacher - who has put on three kilograms since ceasing his F1 training programme - admits that how much he can contribute is limited. He said: "Already I notice that I am a little bit out of date, and the only alternative is to always be around -- and I absolutely do not want to do that." (GMM)

  1. CAR magazine had an article a few years ago in which Schumi tested the 575m spyder. His words: *yeah, it's OK, but compared to an F1 mount it's not that excited*. God help us if this man helps in the development of Ferrari's road cars. That said: welcome aboard Mike and get to work!

  2. Wasn\'t Michael Schumacher involved in developing the 599? Either way, having the support of arguably the best F1 driver in the world in developing your road cars would be a real boon to Ferrari. I\'m looking forward to their \'next\' Enzo.

  3. I have no complaints about what michael does, not like fernando alonso he is sour lemon he whines like a spoiled brat dont people get it into there thick skulls that michael has done a great deal for formula 1 just stop running him down leave him alone. if you dont like the guy dont watch and listen to him, i have aching and listening to what michael has to say. he knows a lot more than the other drives all i can say is belt up and stop ranting and get on with your job. by the way those ferrari photos are great well done whoever took them.
