Teaser for the Audi A7

Teaser for the Audi A7

December 31st, 1969 Audi has released a teaser of its upcoming four-door coupe that’s due to hit showrooms by September of ’09. Before that, we should see a near-production ready concept car at next year’s New York Auto Show. According to the Audi source that leaked the sketch to Car, the A7 will feature a range of V6 and V8 powerplants with high-performance V10 units reserved for the S and RS sports models. Pricing will start below that of the A8 flagship but a new convertible version could turn out to be the most expensive Audi on sale. The new A7 will have some serious competition by the time it arrives. Sister company Volkswagen is preparing its own low-priced four-door coupe and BMW is also prepping a new flagship model based on the Concept CS. Then, of course, there’s the Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera as well as segment starter Mercedes and its CLS, which is due for a facelift next year ahead of an all new model in 2011.

  1. When I was growing up in Spain there were a few idiots who had this big TURBO sticker on the windshield of their Seat Panda 45. Of course it looked ridiculous. Problem was that other idiots saw this and copied it.

Who would have thought this same disease would affect German car makers? BMW comes up with the Bangle Butt and the ugliest interior ever in a Beemer and MB copies them both. MB comes up with the utterly unnecessary and fugly CLS and Audi copies it.

Can't wait for the next idiocy on wheels to come out of Deutschland.

  2. In my opinion the Mercedes Benz CLS is the best looking 4-door on the road and it is the perfect car for people who want it both sporty, luxurious. It's aslo perfect for people who have an occasional 3rd or 4th passenger like myself.

What I can't figure is why all the "4-door coupe" prototypes from other car makers don't look nearly as good, 3 years after the CLS being on the road there is no competition yet!

Very smart move Mercedes, stay a step ahead!

  3. I have to agree wtih Anthony, the CLS looks amazing on the road. Admittedly, some angles are a bit off but in general the car has a lot of road presence.

But it's best feature is that it has only a slight price hike over the regualr e-class. The CLS is one car, IMO, that looks a lot more expensive than it actually is.

  4. Has anyone noticed that the standard CLS has a lot of space between the wheels and the car? Its one car that definitely needs to be dropped to look \"right.\" This Audi sketch is promising but it\'s usually too hard to make out what the car will actually look like from it. :(

  5. CLS copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shame Audi when you have to imitate your competitor that is a sign that you are the follower and not the innovator!

We might as well just buy CLS copies from the Chinese!!!!(A bit Dramatic I know)).

I respected and expected more from Audi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. The CLS is a $70K car for starters that's not that affordable, althought I agree with Ronny it looks even more expensive. Regarding the angles the car simply looks best with the "Sports Package" (extra $5K) or of course it looks even better as the AMG 63 (amg= $93K) which gives it a more aggressive look with less air space between the body and the wheels, like Sam mentioned.

Either trim you can't loose, it is a gorgeous vehicle!

  7. One more luxo-barge :)

  8. I love this type of car. The elegance, the beauty, and the art that tempts the eyes of the car lovers. Can't wait to have one.
