Preview: 2008 Skoda Superb
December 31st, 1969
For those readers not familiar with the Skoda Superb, the car is an executive saloon manufactured by the Czech carmaker and shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Passat. The current model has been on sale since 2001 but will be coming in for an upgrade early next year with the release of an all new model.
This latest rendering matches the lines seen in recent spy shots of the new Superb being assembled at a Skoda plant in the Czech Republic, revealing the new model is slightly longer than the outgoing version. The car also gets a new hatchback style rear door but maintains conventional sedan styling for its profile.
The interior will resemble the current designs used in some VW models with chrome detailing for the air-conditioning surrounds and instrument panels. Mechanicals, too, will be lifted from the VW parts bin. This means it’ll be available with a range of engine options starting with a 1.6L FSI and topping out with a 2.8L V6 FSI. There will also be several diesel options with both 1.9L and 2.0L TDIs on offer.
