Porsche most popular with the wealthy

December 31st, 1969 A new study conducted in the UK by an insurance company has found Porsche to the brand of choice among the nation’s wealthiest for the second straight year in a row. SwiftCover insurance has released a list of the ten car brands wealthy people would most likely buy as well as a list of the ten they’d most likely reject. The lists were compiled using data sourced from 2.7 million quotes registered with the insurer, which ranks a wealthy person as someone earning $85,000 or more. Topping the list of the most desired cars was of course Porsche, followed by Jaguar in second and Mercedes-Benz in third. Surprisingly, BMW ranked in at eighth spot, falling behind Saab, Audi and Jeep. For the list of undesired brands, Proton fared the worst with Daewoo and BMW’s Mini not far behind. 1. Wealthy is $85,000 a year? I would call it higher middle class. You need to also define Rich vs. Wealthy. Rich are people with high income, Wealthy are people who own wealthy assets.

  2. JEEP!, JEEP is in the top 10? but not Vauxall?
all those rich people buying Porsches should be buying the VXR8 and turbocharging it!

  3. It's weird that Jeep is on the top 10 list, and like... Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and all the other supercar companies aren't even on there. BMW is also way low on the list. I think the Insurance company needs either more statistics, or is just... really small. I would think it would rank more like...

    1. Porsche
    2. BMW
    3. Mercedes-Benz
    4. Lexus

    or

    1. Ferrari
    2. Lamborghini
    3. Maybach
    4. Bugatti
    5. Mercedes-Benz (SLR, McLaren F1)
    6. Porsche

  4. here u go

  5. Erning £50k a year isn't rich especially since you will have about £30-35k after tax

I would only look at £100k+ (about 65-70k after tax) at least since if you want a Porche even the base one is like £35k and that would be half your income and really to be truly rich you should be looking at double that so then you can actualy afford to buy what car you want

  6. Milton the McLaren F1 had nothing to do with Mercedes. If I'm right and I'm prety sure I am BMW had more to do with it than Mercedes did.
