Supercharged Vauxhall VXR8 with 540HP on tap
December 31st, 1969
The new Vauxhall VXR8 was only announced back in February but already GM's UK division is offering a new supercharger kit, lifting output from the standard car’s 420hp to a scorching 540hp. Set to go on sale in the UK next month, the new kit is an official option from Vauxhall and comes with a full three-year warranty.
The new model features the same 6.0L LS2 V8 engine shared with the Corvette, and comes with a conventional six-speed manual as standard. Expect the 0-100km/h time to dip well below the five second mark set by the naturally aspirated version.
There’s no word if GM will offer similar tuning packages for the upcoming Pontiac G8 that’ll be sold in the US. Meanwhile, UK customers that have already bought the VXR8 can have the kit retrofitted and still maintain the car's warranty. Click here to read our original story on the naturally aspirated version.
