Porsche bringing Cayenne GTS to Frankfurt
December 31st, 1969
Porsche will unveil a new version of its Cayenne SUV called the GTS at next week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Based on the Cayenne S, the new model will feature a 405hp (302kW) V8 engine, a lowered chassis and 21in wheels. Though the car’s output pales in comparison to the 520hp (389kW) of the Turbo S, a new weight reduction program and an aerodynamic enhanced bodykit will certainly win it some fans.
The show car will be finished in a new ‘GTS Red’ paint scheme and inside, the rear bench has been replaced with two separate bucket seats making this strictly a four-seater. The first cars should hit showrooms early next year.
Porsche will also use the show to present a transparent Cayenne concept car powered by the carmaker’s new hybrid drivetrain that it co-developed with Volkswagen, Audi and Bosch. The first hybrid Porsche is reported to arrive on the market by the end of the decade. Other cars on display at Frankfurt will be the new Porsche 911 GT2 and the Porsche Design Edition 1 Cayman S.
