December 31st, 1969
Not only is Renault presenting the new Laguna Coupe and Kangoo Compact concept cars at this week’s Frankfurt Show, the French carmaker is also presenting the new 2008 model year Kangoo small car as well as the new Clio Sport Tourer. In addition to these two new models, also on show will be a new V6 dCi concept engine as well as the preview of a new AWD system set to debut on the Laguna range.
The new Kangoo features up to 2,866L of storage thanks to its 60:40 split-fold rear bench and is available with a range of three powerplants, two petrol engines and one diesel. New to the range is a 1.5 dCi 105hp oil-burner that emits less than 140g of CO2 per km.
Also on show is the new Clio Sport Tourer, the first-ever estate version of Clio and a rival to cars like the new Mini Clubman and Skoda Fabia Estate. The new model offers 439L of luggage space and will be manufactured at a plant in Turkey.
Renault is also presenting a new 3.0L V6 dCi diesel engine designed for its high-end vehicles. Developed within the Renault-Nissan alliance, the new engine develops 265hp and maximum torque of 550Nm from a low 1,750rpm. The other technological debut for Renault is its new AWD system dubbed ‘Four-wheel Active Drive chassis.’ The new drivetrain, co-developed by Renault and Renault Sport will debut on the new Laguna early next year.
