Ford to offer HD digital radio on almost entire lineup
December 31st, 1969
Ford is planning to offer HD Digital Radio across most of its lineup and will even retrofit it on many earlier models dating back to 2005. The dealer-installed HD radio option is now available on almost all 2008 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles sold in the U.S., offering customers dramatically improved audio, text and data features, and hundreds of new radio channels to choose from.
The cost of installing HD radio will depend on which dealership you go to but, once installed, there are no monthly subscription fees to worry about. As well as digital radio, Ford is also offering its new SYNC in-car communications and entertainment system, which allows drivers to integrate their mobile phones or digital media players with the cars and control them using voice activation or steering wheel controls.
American drivers can look forward to a 13-week radio blitz promoting the rollout of HD digital radio across Ford’s lineup, which is expected to air on some 700 radio stations from the 26th of this month.
