Ford Mondeo and VW Tiguan top latest Euro NCAP test

The latest round of the Euro NCAP crash safety test results are out, with Hyundai’s new i-30 hatch, Ford’s Mondeo and the Volkswagen Caddy ‘Life’ and Tiguan SUV all going under the microscope. Vehicles were rated on three different categories, Adult Occupant Protection, Child Occupant Protection and Pedestrian Protection, and received a separate score for each.
The tests include crashing the vehicles head-on into an offset barrier at roughly 40mph, side impact collisions traveling at about 30mph, and pedestrian impacts, which are tested at 25mph.
The two top performers in this round were Ford’s new Mondeo and VW’s Tiguan, with each scoring a five star rating for adult protection, four stars for child safety and only two stars for pedestrian protection. The VW Caddy and Hyundai i30 came in behind with equal scores of four, three and two stars in the respective categories.
