December 31st, 1969 Update: Audi has released its 2009 A4 Avant. Click here for the latest details and images. Now that the new Audi A4 has been launched we can look forward to the Avant wagon version being revealed in just under twelve month’s time. Audi will be going with a sportier profile than in previous versions, with the key difference being a less steeped tailgate and a sloping profile at the rear. The front of the car will undoubtedly share the same face as the sedan, while the character line along its flanks will stretch out to newly shaped taillights at the rear. The engine lineup will remain the same as the sedan, which means a range of FSI petrol and TDI diesel units with output ranging from 143hp (105kW) to 340hp (253kW), the latter figure being that of the potent S4. Transmission choices will include a conventional six-speed manual, a tiptronic auto and Audi’s multitronic CVT unit but it’s thought a DSG option will be available by the time the Avant is launched late next year.2009 Audi A4 Avant
