First look: 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT
December 31st, 1969
Not to be outdone by the massive release of models ahead of the Tokyo Motor Show, GM has released a first teaser image of the all-new 2009 Pontiac Vibe. Pegged as smaller, more practical mix between a SUV and station wagon, the Vibe is the result of a joint venture between GM and Toyota and is built alongside the Toyota Matrix.
GM’s press release states there will be a GT version as well as all-wheel-drive variants, and that it hits dealerships in 2008. No technical specifications have been released yet, but the new model will get major mechanical changes.
The edgy styling separates the new Vibe from the pack, but we’ll have to wait to see it in person before we can pass a verdict on the styling. First impressions are positive, though.Vibe

looks like a fat STi... and the front fender.. the "character line" or what ever the **** they're calling them.. its much higher than the one on the rear fender.. makes it look front heavy. atleast toyota will get to share the image of a fat pig that cant run.. although the AWD bit is VERY interesting... if the 2nd gen (3rd gen) focus doesnt have AWD im going to shat a 16 piece set of silver wear. including that massive fork for the roasts.
...that front fender.... UGH.. the A pillar sits almost on top of the top of the wheel well.. but the base of the a pillar is just as far away from the top of the fender well as the ground is.. the proportions remind me of that red and yellow car that i had.. when i was 3.. u know the one.. with the casters in the front? yeah.

Looks good to me, similar but much better than the Compass.

I've never liked that high front fender look.
I guess it's an ok car, but the styling laves a lot to be desired.

Sounds like someones getting hungry! I know I am! The car looks great. Smooth forms, flowing crisp lines, nice proportions with lots of room fo yo S*** and yes a lot of others have borrowed the Vibes window graphic. The other makers must agree with the direction...

Absolutely love my 04Viibe. I'm a 66 year old kid that loves cars and
I want to sincerely thank you for that incredable vehicle. Super design,
very functional, and wonderful to drive. I have had a lot of cars and
trucks over the years and that is one of my favorites.

Very disipointed in the new Vibe design. I can't understand what it is trying
to say design element wise and the parts don't seam to be related. Sorry.

Still trying to get used to it, but sorry, I can,t. Like the gas filler on driver side and key lock on passionger side. Hope they now have emergency brake warning buzzer so parking brake won't be forgoten and left on if they don't see the warning lite. Sad about losing: inside crome accents, standard roof rack, fog lites standered, rear lift glass, abs caading to prevent some door dents. 27 year Technical Illustrator.
Thanks for listening,
Ted Kerste
