Mitsubishi at the Tokyo Motor Show

Mitsubishi at the Tokyo Motor Show

December 31st, 1969 Mitsubishi’s star at Tokyo was undoubtedly the latest Evo X but there were also a couple of interesting concept vehicles gracing its stands as well. Of most interest was the Concept-ZT, which previews a possible production model with a 2.2L clean-diesel powerplant and a dual-clutch transmission. The efficient powertrain develops maximum output of 190hp (140kW) and 400Nm of torque, and features the S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control) and an electronic limited slip differential borrowed from the Outlander SUV. The other highlight was a new electric sports car based on the i-MiEV. Modern features of the concept include its aluminum space frame construction, lithium-ion batteries and LED details, and it too comes with S-AWC. Power comes from two 20kW motors up front with a combined torque of 250Nm and one motor up back churning out 47kW and 180Nm of torque. Top speed is a claimed 180km/h and the car’s driving range is rated at 200km. Also display was the Concept-cX SUV from the Frankfurt show. This small SUV is based on the new Lancer platform and features a 1.8L diesel engine and an automatic transmission. The car meets upcoming Euro 5 emissions standards and is tipped to enter production late next year. You can see more images of all three concepts in our previous story by clicking here.
