Official teaser for Fisker’s 2008 plug-in hybrid
December 31st, 1969
The Fisker plug-in hybrid saloon has officially been revealed at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. Click here for all the details and images.
Henrik Fisker, a man responsible for the breath-taking designs of the BMW Z8, Aston Martin DB9 and V8 Vantage, is set to debut a 100mph performance plug-in hybrid at the Detroit Auto Show in January next year. By partnering with Quantum Technologies, Fisker Automotive plans to start selling the car in 2009 with an initial production figure of 15,000 units a year, with each car priced at just under $100,000. This is the first official teaser for the new car, which is shaping up to be one of the sexiest hybrids on the planet.
Unlike his other models, based on the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 6-Series, this car is set to have a completely independent design, with a new platform “developed from the ground-up” according to Fisker Automotive.
The four-seater will be powered by either petrol or diesel powertrains mated to an electric motor, and will have a modest range of 50 miles on pure-electric mode. When combined with the internal combustion engine it will have a mammoth 620 mile range.
Aiming at buyers with an environmental conscience, Fisker claims, “we want people to drive beautiful fast cars that make environmental sense – cars that are eco-chic and will have less of an impact on global warming.”
