Saleen S281 RF Mustang offers 465HP for under $50K

December 31st, 1969 Saleen has announced the launch of a new 465hp supercharged Mustang 100 lucky customers will be able to scoop up for $49,995. The new car is called the Saleen S281 RF and is available in only two colors, black and alloy. The performance coupe is based on Ford’s 4.6L V8 Mustang but picks up a twin-screw supercharger to achieve its peak output of 465hp at 5,800rpm and 425 lb-ft of torque at 4,000rpm. Other modifications to the car include uprated fuel-injectors, a new MAF sensor, a dual-stage water-to-air intercooler, high-flow intake and sports air-filter, upgraded ECU and a 2.5in stainless steel exhaust system. Driving the rear wheels is a five-speed manual gearbox with an 8.8in differential and a 3.31:1 final drive ratio. To make sure all that power gets to the ground engineers also added new coil-springs and sway bars. Stopping power comes from 12.4in vented discs up front and smaller 11.8in discs out the back. These reside within 20in chrome wheels wrapped with high-performance Dunlop tires.
