SEMA 2007 Vehicle Design Award winners announced

In the midst of all the chaos that is the Specialty Equipment Market Association’s annual show, there are four cars each year that stand out as the very best in their categories. Rated on ease of customization, the Vehicle Design Awards are given for the best car, SUV, truck and hybrid.

The hybrid category was added in 2006, the inaugural winner being the gigantic Chevrolet Silverado Classic Hybrid. Its successor and this year’s winner is the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid. The 2008 Cadillac CTS took home the car category win, taking over from last year’s winner, the Ford Shelby GT 500. The truck category was taken by Nissan’s Titan and the SUV crown went to the Hummer H2. Aside from the Titan, the awards were a GM sweep.

What makes these vehicles tops in their respective categories is not any single feature or trait, but rather their adaptability to after-market accessorization and customization. The winners exhibit the very best in accessibility for SEMA member companies in their efforts to develop new looks and performance for existing cars.
