Renault Laguna Coupe engine specs
December 31st, 1969
Renault’s new flagship coupe is still roughly a year away from making its debut but as the passage of time creeps on more and more of the car’s specifications are being revealed. Already we know the Laguna Coupe will be the first model to feature Renault’s new Active-Drive four wheel steering system and now we know engine options will include two diesel V6 mills and the 3.5L petrol V6 from the Vel Satis.
The car’s styling will be heavily based on the Laguna Coupe concept car from September’s Frankfurt Motor Show. Key features will be its 4.7m length, short overhangs and flat windshield. One feature of the concept we hope makes it to production is the swan-wing doors. These lift slightly as the doors are opened and help protect them from scraping the pavement.
According to Auto Motor und Sport, two diesel V6 engines co-developed with Nissan will feature in the coupe range. Both engines will displace 3.0L and will differ by their power outputs, which stand at 230 and 265hp respectively. The range topper will come with the 3.5L V6 petrol engine developing at least 240hp.
All three engines will be fully compliant with upcoming Euro 6 emissions standards, due to roll in by 2011. Further down the track Renault could also add smaller four-cylinder engines to expand the lineup.
