Volvo R-Design goes on sale
December 31st, 1969
Volvo’s R-Design performance styling packs are now available for the C30, S40 and V50 models, although the range will be limited in some markets. Before you get all excited with the return of the ‘R’ title, note that the latest designation represents just a bunch of add-on styling accessories. You may recall Volvo built several high-performance R models between 1994 and 2007 with plenty of suspension and power mods.
The kit comes in two trim levels, basic Sport and the more expensive SE Sport, and is available as an option for all models in the C30, S40 and V50 lineup except the 2.4L petrol variants.
Additions to the car’s exterior include R-Design badging on the grille, color-coded bumpers, a rear-roof spoiler, a silver matt finish for the grille and wing mirrors and unique 17 or 18in alloy wheels.
Inside, the cars are available with two-tone black and cream upholstery with R-Design labeling, a leather trimmed steering wheel, blue instrument dials and an aluminum center stack with matching sports pedals.
