Lotus launches Elise S 40th Anniversary Limited Edition
December 31st, 1969
Lotus has unveiled a Europe-only version of the Elise S to mark the 40th anniversary of production at the carmaker’s Hethel factory in the UK. The new car is based on the entry-level Elise S and picks up several unique features to differentiate it from the standard models.
This includes the unique burnt orange paint scheme, the coupe bodystyle, a painted rear diffuser and wheels, leather trim in orange stitching and a matching center console. Other touches include painted brake calipers, numbered build plates and 40th anniversary decals. There’s even an official commemorative letter signed by Lotus CEO Mike Kimberley.
Germany will be allocated with the most cars, 15 in total, followed by Switzerland with 10, Italy with 6 and France and Belgium with 5 cars each. A further 9 cars is allocated for the rest of mainland Europe.
