December 31st, 1969 Scheduled for introduction at the next month’s Detroit Auto Show, the HUMMER HX concept reflects the next generation of thinking inside at GM Design. The concept is the creation of three new designers, whose first assignment was to provide a vision for the future design of off-road vehicles. In its final concept form, the E-85 FlexFuel capable HUMMER HX draws upon the traditional styling of the SUV brand while offering new innovations such as the removable roof panels for open-air driving. It also features a slant back body with removable doors and fender flairs to give the vehicle a sporty look. The final concept was chosen from a field of designs with GM’s Vice Chairman Bob Lutz and its Design Chief Ed Welburn picking the winner.HUMMER HX Concept headed for Detroit
