Skoda unveils Superb flagship ahead of Geneva debut
December 31st, 1969
Skoda is going to present the successor to its flagship model at next year’s Geneva Motor Show in March - the long awaited second-generation Superb sedan. For those readers not familiar with the Superb, the car is an executive saloon manufactured by Czech carmaker Skoda, and shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Passat.
The new model is slightly longer than the outgoing version and will feature a hatchback style rear door whilst still maintaining a sedan profile. The interior will resemble the current designs used in some VW models, with chrome detailing for the air-conditioning surrounds and instrument panels.
Mechanicals, too, will be lifted from the VW parts bin. This means it’ll be available with a range of engine options starting with a 1.6L FSI and topping out with a 2.8L V6 FSI. There will also be several diesel options with both 1.9L and 2.0L TDIs on offer.
