Hennessey unveils 678hp Viper
December 31st, 1969
Hennessey Performance is best known for its Viper upgrades, and its latest upgrade for the 2008 Viper SRT10 is designed to be an opening salvo against the upcoming Chevy Corvette ‘Blue Devil’. Dubbed the Venom 650R, the package includes upgrades to the exhaust system and catalytic converters to increase horsepower by 78hp to 678hp.
The extra horses allow the Hennessey Viper to accelerate from 0-150 a full 1.5 seconds quicker (15.5 seconds) than the stock Viper. The brakes have also been modified to reduce the weight of the car (8 lbs per corner)
The upgrade also includes 650R exterior badges and Venom Power floor mats, as well as a serial numbered plaque in the cabin and under the hood, just to let people know that your not driving any ‘ordinary’ Dodge Viper SRT10.
The Venom 650R should have an output close to the Corvette ‘Blue Devil’ proposed for 2009 but until a side by side comparison can be done of the two cars we can only speculate as to how they will compare.
