Autodelta Brera J5 Compressore tuned for the tropics
December 31st, 1969
London tuning house Autodelta has unveiled the latest iteration of its performance package for the Alfa Romeo 3.2 V6 JTS coupe. The car still runs the familiar supercharging kit, first launched in 2006, but new for the 2008 model year is the addition of an air-to-air intercooler mounted behind the front bumper developed specifically for hot and tropical climates.
To ensure consistent performance levels in extreme hot air temperatures, Autodelta’s engineers developed and tested various solutions including water-to-air intercoolers and opted for the air-to-air version for simplicity and reliability.Extra power comes from a compact Rotrex C30-94 supercharger, offering peak output of 348hp and 430Nm torque.
This is an additional 88hp over the standard model and sees the AWD 2+2 GT reach 100km/h from rest in just 5.3 seconds and go on to max out at a respectable 260km/h. The 3.2 V6 engine’s power curve has been revised to allow stronger performance at peak revs, which are now raised to 6,400rpm.
Autodelta is one of the only tuning companies in the world to offer forced induction on the Alfa Romeo 3.2 V6 JTS Twin Phaser engine, and the supercharger’s compact form and low weight retains both a stock look and feel in the engine bay.
