Chrysler to facelift Sebring - and possibly kill Viper

Chrysler’s small product portfolio isn’t helped by the fact that many of its new cars are already moving towards the bottom of their segments in everything from refinement to build quality. The supposedly mass market Sebring and Avenger models, released barely a year ago, are expected to undergo a facelift by 2010.

Sales for both cars have been disappointing and the consensus seems to be that the interiors are too cheap and need to be replaced as soon as possible. There are also plans for a major Chrysler 300 facelift around 2011.

Worse news for performance car fans, however, is that the iconic Viper supercar may also be on the chopping block. A recent report from Edmunds claims that Chrysler executives are prepared to end production of the Viper if it’s unable to bring the Dodge brand “the desired halo effect.”
