Borgward starts testing new prototype
December 31st, 1969
German car manufacturer Borgward, which went bankrupt back in 1961, is set to make a revival according to latest reports from Dutch media. Leading the company’s return is Christian Borgward, the grandson of Carl Borgward who was the original founder. Borgward, with the help of several investors, including key Asian players, will base the new operations at the company’s original home in Bremen, Germany.
Speaking with Autovisie, Christian Borgward revealed that a prototype is currently being tested and that development of a new factory or outsourcing of production to manufacturers like Karmann or Magna Steyr will be the most likely route for the new model. Borgward is predicting sales levels of up to 50,000 units per year for his new model, which is estimated to cost between €65,000 and €90,000.
Borgward boasts that his new car will be a rival to the Audi A6/Mercedes E-Class/BMW 5-series, but when asked if the car will be appearing at car shows in the next couple of years his response was that “perfection requires time.”

The return of Borgward is received with great enthusiasm especially since my family was the sales agent in Kenya back in the 50's. hope the vehicle is launched soon and maybe we can revive the sales agency.
It was asuccessful vehicle in those days and is sure to be equally sucessful when it goes into production and sales.
