BMW prepping new EfficientDynamics Concept
December 31st, 1969
BMW’s lineup up this year’s Geneva Motor Show will be a low key one, with the only major debut set to be a new EfficientDynamics Concept vehicle. BMW’s previous EfficientDynamics have been based on its regular production models, the most recent being a hybrid version of the X6 crossover, but there’s no word yet what designers have up their sleeves. Alongside the new concept will be the debuts of the new 320d Convertible and high-performance M3 Convertible.
The 320d Convertible uses the same 2.0L turbodiesel engine from other 320d models in the 3-Series range and packs a total of 177hp and 350Nm of torque. Combining features such as stop-start technology on manual cars as well as second-generation common-rail injection diesel injection, and a new engine particulate filter fitted as standard, the 320d consumes just 5.3 liters of fuel per 100km (44mpg) and emits just 140g of CO2 per km.
Also on show will be the 125i Coupé, the fourth derivative in the BMW 1 Series Coupé range. This car features the familiar 3.0L straight-six petrol turbo and needs just 7.9L of fuel per 100km (30mpg) and emits 190g of CO2 per km.
The M3 Convertible, meanwhile, will be showcasing the carmaker’s brand new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which you can read about in our earlier post.

I would love to have the 120d be exported to the US. Diesel cars are just starting to get traction as an alternative to petrol cars. 40+ mpg in a car that handles like it is on rails!? Who wouldn't want one?
