Abarth Grande Punto ‘assetto’ & ‘essesse’ kit
December 31st, 1969
Fiat first displayed its rejuvenated Abarth brand at last year’s Geneva Motor Show with the unveiling of Grande Punto Abarth S2000 racer concept. It quickly followed this up with another concept, the Punto Abarth SS (Super Sport) at the Frankfurt Motor Show that same year, and now Fiat has released details about two new performance kits for the Grande Punto, which is on sale now.
The first pack, dubbed assetto, comes with set of uprated brakes, a revised front bumper, lightweight 18in alloy wheels wrapped with Pirelli Pzero tires and an adjustable lowering kit that sees the car drop up to 20mm.
The essesse, meanwhile, transforms the powertrain of the 1.4L T-Jet model by adding a new Garrett turbocharger, a sports air-filter and a new electronic control engine module. The end result is an increase from the stock car’s 155hp to a respectable 180hp. The 0-100km/h sprint now takes about 7.5 seconds and top speed is rated at 215km/h.
